National Cupcake Competition |
I can't tell you how ridiculously excited I am, I have just found out I have got through to the finals of the 2015 National Cupcake Championships! It is so exciting.
Congratulatory Email |
I entered the competition last minute and didn’t think I would ever hear anything!
The competition is made up six categories and entrants could choose to enter as many as they wished. The categories included, Classic Cupcake; Made with Alcohol; Free-from; Made with Chocolate; Seasonal Cupcake; and Cupcake for Children. I chose to enter the Classic Cupcake category with my recipe for a Tropical Carrot Cake.
I created the Tropical Carrot Cupcake recipe as I wanted it to represent me, a fusion of traditional English with a dash of Caribbean flare.
Tropical Carrot Cake |
The actual cake contains a delicious mix of wholesome spices, carrots, as well the wonderful tropical flavours of rum and coconut, it is then topped with a swirl of my favourite fluffy cream cheese butter icing. (Once the judging has taken place, I upload the recipe to the blog).

The live finals will take place on 14th September 2015, the first day of National Cupcake Week 2015, at Bakels’ test bakery in Bicester. Each finalist will bring a batch of 12 cupcakes and these will then be tasted by a panel of judges who will determine category winners and one overall champion. As well as the judging, all the finalists will be treated to two chocolate masterclasses worth £300 per person by sponsor Barry Callebaut (I actually can't wait for this, I love chocolate).
The event is sponsored by Barry Callebaut, online ordering service Hello and... and hosted by British Bakels.
Fingers crossed!
Best wishes,
Pia x
