On a beautiful spring day in March one of our very own Vanilla Pod Bakery team members tied the knot to her fiancé of 10 years in a gorgeous ceremony at Coombe Lodge in Somerset.
It was a lovely #gloswed affair too with A'lissia Couture Bridal providing bespoke bridesmaid dresses, Bigeye Photography snapping fantastic photographs**, Dragonfly dressing Laura in her stunning wedding dress and of course the Vanilla Pod Bakery providing the cake.

It was a very exciting day when Laura came rushing into work one summers day last year telling us she had been proposed to... and said yes! And we were so chuffed to bits when she asked us to make the wedding cake! We couldn't wait to start work on it.
The cake started life six months prior to the wedding date when myself, Laura and her fiancé sat down to discuss what type of cake they wanted, the design aspect of it and flavours choices. Laura actually came up with the design of her cake and we tweaked it slightly to give it a Vanilla Pod touch.
The final cake design was a mixture of three real tiers and a dummy tier to give it that extra wow factor and height. Laura's colour scheme was deep purples but she wanted the cake to be neural and elegant to reflect the venues beautiful surroundings. We used a mixture of ivory and white fondant icings, white royal icing and gorgeous sparkly brooches from accessorize. Once we got to the venue and set up we added a little bouquet of wedding flowers to the top of the cake to complete the look.
The yummy cake flavours were Vanilla Pod's signature Almond and Jam, Classic Victoria Sandwich and Rich Belgian Chocolate. The dummy tier was hidden between the top and third tier.

The wedding was such a fantastic day. Laura looked stunning, the venue was amazing and the food delicious. A perfect wedding, and we wish all the best to Laura and her new husband. xxx
